There are families who dream of enrolling in our programs, who want to go back to their jobs, but it costs less for one of them to stay home than it does to enroll their child in care. Or families struggle to juggle all the bills because they need to work, but do not have other options for childcare.
For too long, families with young children have been left alone to pay for child care that drives our entire economy. Michigan loses nearly $3 Billion each year because families don’t have access to care.
You and I both know: it’s just not right. It is up to us, our community, to ensure everyone can thrive. As a Kindergarten teacher, I directly see the impact of children being able to attend preschool. The children who do, come in with far more skills and confidence than their peers who do not.
