It has been a little over two years since my baby started attending daycare at Green Apple Garden Playschool, and I am not exaggerating when I say that enrolling him there is the single best parenting decision we have made thus far. Green Apple has provided him real friendships and valuable social skills at a very young age and encouraged him to become the curious, creative, and capable little boy he is today. Green Apple has made my husband and me better parents as well by challenging us to see our child’s abilities unconstrained by our notions of age and size and surrounding us with a loving community of open-minded teachers, staff, and parents we can rely on and learn from.
That sense of community has been critical in helping us weather the COVID-19 pandemic which has created the greatest childcare crisis of our time. Quality childcare centers like Green Apple were already operating on razor-thin margins before the pandemic, and increasing costs due to pandemic-related expenses now threaten to put these centers in the red.
Your gift will provide emergency funds to keep the cost of childcare affordable even as Green Apple must increase staffing ratios, limit class sizes, purchase personal protective equipment, and prepare to sustain future school closures. Your support also ensures our teachers can continue their important work while providing for their own families.
